Oh the work I have!

Allo bonjour!

Almost Spring Break time and relaxation!! But first I must deal with these pesky midterms and essays!! I finally finished my essay for Thursday and now I can concentrate on my midterms one tomorrow and one Thursday...they are long and lots ot study so I am slightly behind in the studying...grrr!! I'm trying though, so that has to count for something, no?

Suddenly I am enjoying some country music, sad but true! I like Paul Brandt, I got to like him because of a song from Notting Hill, and I like a few of his other ones. So yes, now I am listening to him and studying.

The exam schedule is up today...I finish the 29th of April...at least it is a Saturday and my Dad can come pick me up, but I was hoping for an earlier day. Well, I get a few days at home before leaving for Paris, so I guess that is good!! I think I am a little bitter because I am the last one in the apartment!! Even the science student finishes before me!

Oh well, that is all the complaining for today, must go study! Wish me luck!

Ahhh, 2 weeks from Hell

Well, here I am sitting in my room stressing out! I have the 2 weeks from hell right nwo. It isn't as bad as last semester, but this is still difficult. I had a midterm today, went well, and I have 2 essays due tomorrow as well as a midterm tomorrow. I have finished my essays, but man it was stressful! Then next week I have a big midterm on Wednesday, I have to know a whole book off by heart with lecture notes too! And a midterm on Thursday and an essay due on Thursday. So yes, there are my 2 lovely weeks!

Enough complaining and stressing...

I went home last weekend, it was soooo nice!! I got to see Jill and Rick and Linda and John friends of the family and we playedRummoli, lovely game where we talk too much and try cheating! I love it! Then my Mom took me shopping and got me a really nice North Face running shirt. I will of course wear it at any time since it would be too hot to run in the gym wearing that, maybe when it gets nicer I will wear it outside to run. And thenSunday I lounged and then got a lift with Juju back and we listened to the Lion King soundtrack and Moulin Rouge soundtrack and sang along! It was great! Plus, my break is in 2 weeks so that is my reward for finishing everything on time! Awesome!!

We are trying to go snowboarding on Friday. Let's hope it doesn't rain again. It is supposed to rain today, but it hasn't so far. As long as it is good weather conditions Friday evening, I don't care!! I want to go boarding before all the snow melts! Especially since it is $10 to ski and $10 to rent, great price!

Kiki has invented her own Holiday based on one from a show, Snowflake Day, and we are dressing up as Pirates and having tacos and exchanging gift baskets! It is great! They are like Christmas crackers but in baskets with fish on the outside! It is going to be great fun. I am working that day for Super Saturday and I am outside directing traffic and then sitting in a res opening the door and I will have something to look forward to! I must remember to bring a book this time when I go sit in the res, otherwise I am bored out of my mind!

I think that is all the things I have to report, me and my boring life!! Have a great week all and enjoy the Spring break whenever you have it! Lucky buggers who have it this week, so many and we don't...I wonder why not?

Always love your enemies - nothing annoys them so much.

A fantastically depressing movie quote of a poem

I really loved this speech in Four Weddings and a Funeral, and thought to share it with you. Sorry for it being sad, but it really is a fantastic poem.

Four Weddings & A Funeralwritten by Richard Curtis & "Funeral Blues" by W.H. Auden

Matthew: Garreth used to prefer funerals to weddings. He said it was easier to get enthusiastic about a ceremony one had an outside chance of eventually being involved in. In order to prepare this speech, I rang a few people, to get a general picture of how Garreth was regarded by those who met him. Fat seems to be a word people most connected with him. Terribly rude also rang a lot of bells. So very fat and very rude seems to have been a stranger's viewpoint. On the other hand, some of you have been kind enough to ring me to tell me that you loved him, which I know he'd be thrilled to hear. You remember his fabulous hospitality...his strange experimental cooking. The recipe for 'Duck a la Banana' fortunately goes with him to his grave. Most of all, you tell me of his enormous capacity for joy. When joyful, when joyful for highly vocal drunkenness. But joyful is how I hope you'll remember him. Not stuck in a box in a church. Pick your favorite of his waistcoats and remember him that way. The most splendid, replete, big-hearted, weak-hearted as it turned out, and jolly bugger most of us ever met. As for me, you may ask how I'll remember him, what I thought of him. Unfortunately there I don't have words. Perhaps you will forgive me if I turn from my own feelings to the words of another splendid bugger: W.H. Auden. This is actually what I wanted to say:

'Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone.
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum,
Bring out the coffin...let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle, moaning overhead,
Scribbling on the sky the message: He is Dead.
Put crepe bows 'round the necks of public doves,
Let traffic policemen wear black, cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East, my West.
My working week and my Sunday rest.
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song,
I thought love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now, put out every one.
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun.
Pour out the ocean and sweep up the wood,
For nothing now can ever come to any good."
